Toronto’s East Region 18 (ER18) junior students have been involved in a speech arts festival, celebrated during Education Week, since the year 2000. Schools from ER18 select one student from grades 4 to 6 to represent their school at the area finals.

This year, Jee-Yun Lee, reporter from CP24, Alexandra Beaton the lead actress from The Next Step, Arnel Scott a social entrepreneur and book publisher, and Nadine Chevolleau an author and marketing professional for The Toronto Star Newspaper, spent the morning judging the ER 18 Annual Speech Arts Festival.  The judges were extremely impressed with the presenters and commented on the high calibre of the speeches as well as their public speaking. After hearing 19 speakers the judges were faced with the very difficult task of selecting the first, second and third place winners.

Congratulations to Natalie C. from Lescon P.S. who won first place, Nathan R. from Bridlewood P.S. placed second and Mira M. from Muirhead P.S. finished third.

Thank you to the judges, teachers, school superintendent and parents in attendance.
