More Than 1,400 TDSB Students Sign Up for the Canada Learning Bond

Categories: Great Things, Happenings @ TDSB

Research shows that even a small amount of education savings can improve student achievement, well-being, equity of opportunity and outcomes. That’s why the TDSB and SmartSAVER launched a board-wide campaign in 2016 to raise awareness of the Canada Learning Bond and help families across the TDSB kick start their children’s future education savings with free money from the Government of Canada.

Since the launch of the campaign, more than 1,400 TDSB students have opened no-fee, zero contribution RESP accounts and applied for the Canada Learning Bond.

On November 29, the TDSB and SmartSAVER came together for a partnership celebration at Market Lane Junior and Senior PS. As part of the partnership, SmartSAVER donated $25 to the TDSB for each eligible application. During the celebration, SmartSAVER presented the TDSB with a donation of $25,400. The money, generously donated by SmartSAVER, will be used to enhance technology in classrooms across the TDSB.

Learn more about the SmartSAVER campaign and find out if your family is eligible for the Canada Learning Bond.
