Toronto Student Day at the Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Game on Sunday, June 4, 2023

Categories: Happenings @tdsb News

Toronto students, staff, and families are invited to enjoy a free baseball game featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

This event is one of several initiatives organized by the Toronto District School Board’s Jewish Heritage Month and Italian Heritage Month Committees to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Christie Pits Riot, the largest race riot in Canadian history that involved people from Toronto’s Jewish and Italian communities. The riot happened during a baseball game. Now, 90 years later, we invite you to come and show everyone that Baseball Builds Bridges.

Event details:

  • The commemorative event and baseball game will take place at Dominico Field in Christie Pits Park. The field is located at the northeast corner of the park at Christie Street and Barton Avenue, a short walk from Christie subway station.
  • Please arrive by 1:30 p.m. for a special pre-game program that will include student performances. The baseball game featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the Hamilton Cardinals will begin immediately afterwards at 2:00 p.m.

What to know before you come:

  • You are responsible for your own transportation to the event.
  • You must supervise your children.
  • You are welcome to bring snacks or buy them at the park.
  • You also want to bring a blanket, hat, and sunscreen.

If it Rains on Sunday, June 4, 2023:

If it rains on Sunday, June 4, 2023, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.

We hope you will join us for an afternoon of fun!
