Two groups of students from Zion Heights MS were recent winners of two very meaningful digital technology competitions conducted by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
GoTO - Litter Reduction App
A team of Grade 8 students recently earned the opportunity to be assessed by judges working to identify the TCS goIT Global Innovator of the Year. The students earned the opportunity following winning the Toronto Marathon goIT Challenge and coming in 3rd place at the goIT Americas Challenge.
The students presented the litter reduction app they created, called GoTO. The GoTO app aims to make Toronto cleaner by encouraging residents to start cleaning up litter today.
The team came in 6th place overall at the Global Innovator of the Year competition. In total, 24 teams from around the world participated in the challenge.
Feed Secure App
A second team of students from Zion Heights MS were also recent winners of the North American goIT Monthly Challenge for February 2023 with their concept for an app that would reduce hunger. The teams whose apps came in second (Food4You) and third (Down2zero) place were also from Zion Heights MS.
