Active Safe and Sustainable Transportation School Projects

ASST School Projects

We partner with various organizations who specialize in transportation projects.

A unique program, delivered in partnership with Green Communities Canada, providing facilitators to select schools to identify travel issues and develop workable solutions in collaboration with the school community, the Board and City of Toronto staff.
The Bike to School Project is aimed at promoting cycling at TDSB secondary schools and is delivered through a partnership with Culturelink Settlement and Community Services.
Bike to School Week is a celebration of active transportation and biking and builds on the success of Bike Month. Schools participate in Bike to School Week by encouraging their students to walk and roll to school, and by holding events both inside and outside the classroom to promote the benefits of active transportation and biking.

Cycling Education

Schools can receive a cycling education program from CultureLink Community Settlement Services, a TDSB Educational Partner. The TDSB has been partnering with CultureLink since 2015 to deliver cycling education support to schools. Through this partnership, the Sustainability Office is able to offer free cycling education programs to schools (e.g., bike rodeos, learn-to-ride workshops and bike safety workshops). CultureLink has also been a leading partner in Bike to School Week in Toronto for the last several years and has delivered a variety of cycling education supports to secondary schools.
