Action Revitalizing School Grounds School Ground Projects

School Ground Projects

TDSB school ground revitalization projects began in the 1990s and continue to provide many benefits including environmental teaching and learning, play and physical development opportunities, increased biodiversity, shade and respite from urban heat islands, and space to grow gardens.

Reviewing the viability of a school ground project is the first step for schools to receive approval, guidance, and support to plan, create, and maintain these outdoor projects. This is facilitated through the Viability Review meeting process.

Looking to get started now with improvements to your school ground? Learn more about quick wins and simple additions to support outdoor learning that do not need a Viability Review, including: DIY seating, stock tanks, picnic tables and log benches.
