Student Exemptions from Synchronous Learning

The exemption process described in Policy/Program Memorandum No. 164 ( PPM 164) continues to be in place for elementary and secondary students who are learning virtually in the 2022-2023 school year. It is not available to students who have opted for in-person learning or home schooling.

Beginning Thursday, October 6, individual requests for an exemption from the minimum requirements for synchronous (live, interactive) learning can be made through an online form or by submitting a hard copy form to the home school. Requests will be reviewed and applicants will be notified in writing.

Forms for approved exemptions will be stored in the student’s Ontario Student Record (OSR). Applicants will have an opportunity to request an exemption for a specific duration or for the entire 2022-2023 school year.

The timeline to request an Exemption is Thursday, October 6 to Friday, October 28, 2022 for elementary and secondary students.
