Google Translate Limitations Disclaimer

The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

The Toronto District School Board is committed to equity and community engagement, and by providing this tool, we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English.

Google Translate Frequently Asked Questions

Student Password & Device Help

Students and families who completed the technology-needs survey to assist with their remote learning will receive their device between April and June. The devices students will receive are from TDSB schools. Students in Kindergarten-Grade 2 will receive an iPad. Students in Grades 3 - 12 will receive a Chromebook.

Chromebooks are laptops running the Chrome operating system and work best when connected to the internet but do function offline as well. Chromebooks are built to startup quickly and to efficiently access webpages. They work very well with G Suite for Education, the Brightspace Learning Platform and TDSB's Virtual Library.

How do I get Support?

Please see answers to the most frequently asked support questions from our Parent Community.

TDSB is providing the following types of support for the Chromebooks being used at home:

  • Assistance with student account and password questions
  • Assistance with logging in to the Chromebook
  • Connecting to wifi

For assistance with above support, please initiate a live chat with IT Services Support via StudentPassword/DeviceHelp. IT Service Support hours are 8 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Questions about digital learning tools such as Google Classroom, Brightspace etc. along with questions about remote learning school work should be directed to your child’s teacher.
