Fresh from winning the Culinary Competition at the Royal Winter Fair, Bendale Business and Technical Institute’s (BBTI) Culinary Staff and Students were invited to prepare and serve at the Annual New Leaf Yoga Fundraising Gala at Capitol Theatre on Yonge Street.

Staff and students proudly made and served hors d’oeuvres for over 350 guests for the fundraising event held by one of TDSB’s partners that provides Yoga instruction and mindfulness activities. The activities are delivered over twenty-four weeks in weekly sessions at school to help engage students and expose them to important life skills in self-awareness, self-control, and relaxation and it also helps them to express themselves through creative exercise.

While the culinary students were serving up the BBTI culinary delights, New Leaf Yoga launched their latest Documentary Film featuring BBTI students. After the Documentary was shown to the 350 guests, Chris (aka Fluffy) and Jahvar took to the stage to tell their story about how Yoga has changed their lives. Once they spoke, the night was theirs as they answered many questions from the guests for the rest of the evening.

According to the folks at the Gala --- it was the BEST one EVER thanks to the staff and students of BBTI.

Both young men and all the student caterers should be proud for doing such a great job for a worthy cause.
