Sister 2 Sister Conference 2014

Wednesday, March 05, 2014
Categories: Happenings @ TDSB, Inclusive Schools, Student, Parent, and Community

Last Friday marked the 6th annual Sister 2 Sister Conference. This year over 200 grade eight girls from nine Regent Park and surrounding communities' schools participated. The full day conference is for womyn* by womyn with the main goal of making connections with positive female role models and acknowledge the incredible womyn leaders in the community.

Over 30 female presenters and performers shared in the day and participants could choose from different workshops on topics that matter to them such as "Ms Independent!  Money Management" and "F.L.Y. (Forever Love Yourself)".

Young womyn left the Sister 2 Sister conference with a strong sense of the community connections available to them and courage to know that their voice matters in their community and world around them.

We can't wait for the next Sister 2 Sister event, Womyn in the World of Work which is on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 where womyn will gather again for a career fair.
