Grades Exams & Diplomas

Grades, exams and tests are all a part of high school. In addition to regular tests and exams in your courses, every high school student is required to complete two secondary school assessments including:

As you work towards completing all of the requirements for your Ontario Secondary School Diploma, you will receive regular report cards along the way to let you know how you’re doing.

Schools may receive a request from a Trustee, Municipal Councillor, Member of Provincial Parliament or Member of Parliament for a list of “graduates” for the purposes of providing  a congratulatory certificate to the graduating student. When receiving these requests,  please ensure that staff are not disclosing student information. Kindly ask that the Trustee, Municipal Councillor, Member of Provincial Parliament or Member of Parliament provide the school with a blank certificate that can be completed by school staff. 

Notice of Collection:

A school may receive a request from a Trustee, Municipal Councillor, Member of Provincial Parliament or Member of Parliament for a list of “graduates” for the purposes of providing  a congratulatory certificate to the graduating student. The collection use and disclosure of personal information for these purposes are expressly authorized in accordance with section 4 of Regulation 823 under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56. The student’s first name, last name and grade will only be collected and shared with school staff for the purposes of determining suitability or eligibility for an award or honour.
