Student Senate Elections


Note: Applications are now closed for the 2019-20 Student Senate, including Student Senate Executives and Student Trustees. Please check back on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, for a list of candidates, their campaign speeches and more information on the voting process. This year, students will vote online on May 15 and 16, 2019.

The Student Senate elections are held each year to elect both the Student Trustees and the Student Senate Executives. 

WHAT ROLE DOES THE STUDENT SENATE PLAY IN TDSB?

The TDSB Student Senate is a group of 24 democratically elected students who work on advocating for students, promoting student voice and supporting active student governance. Furthermore, Student Senate facilitates communication between Trustees, staff and all students in the TDSB and provides opportunities that foster student leadership through conferences, retreats, mentoring and various other activities.

ELECTIONS TIMELINES & DEADLINES

  • Monday, April 8
    • Deadline for Candidate Applications (through Google Form)
  • Wednesday, April 10
    • Deadline for References
  • Monday, April 15
    • Student Trustee Candidate Interviews (Shortlisted Candidates will be informed via email by April 12)
  • Tuesday, April 16
    • Shortlisted candidates for all positions will contacted via email
  • Wednesday, April 24
    • Deadline for Speeches, excursion & media release forms submitted to Ms. Nguyen via email
  • Tuesday, April 30
    • Candidates tape speeches @ 5050 Yonge 
  • Wednesday, May 8
    • Taped Speeches go live on TDSB website
  • Wednesday, May 15
    • Voting Link go live from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm for students to vote remotely
