The Continuing Education Department invites applications from students to enrol in the Equity Studies Combined Credit Program for Latino/a youth.

Offered in partnership with the Toronto District School Board Aboriginal Education Centre, York University, and the Centre for Urban Schooling at OISE/University of Toronto, this program provides eligible Latino/a youth in the TDSB with the opportunity to engage with youth participatory action research (YPAR) and explore a variety of equity issues affecting Latino/a communities. Students enrolled will participate in the development of research projects that will provide them with training in social science research methods with an emphasis on Decolonial and Indigenous methodologies. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will earn a credit in Equity Studies (HSE4M) or Challenge and Change in Society (HSB4U), as well as a first-year undergraduate Faculty of Education credit from York University with a focus on Indigenous knowledge.

This unique program will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning on February 6th and ending on June 12th, 2018. Classes will run from 4:30 pm. to 7:30 pm and will be co-delivered with faculty and a team of researchers from York University and OISE/University of Toronto. The program will take place at the Aboriginal Education Centre at 16 Phin Avenue, Toronto, ON.
