Google Translate Limitations Disclaimer

The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

2018 International Languages – Elementary / African Heritage Summer Program Student Employment

The Focus On Youth Toronto (FOYT) program will hire  secondary students for summer employment with International Languages – Elementary/African Heritage Programs. FOYT students will be assisting in supporting student engagement in learning and working with individual and/or groups of students. 

The International Languages - Elementary/African Heritage Summer Program runs from July 3 to July 27, 2018, with an additional two days for training in June. TDSB students can apply for summer employment through the on-line application form at the bottom of this page from February 27 to April 2.

Students hired for employment with International Languages - Elementary/African Heritage Summer Program will be subject to the documentation process expected of temporary employees of the TDSB:

  • Presentation of identification
  • Confirmation of a bank account for purposes of direct payroll deposit


  • Must be 16 or 17 years of age for the duration of program from July 3 to July 27, 2018 inclusive.
  • Must be currently registered in a TDSB school or program.
  • Must enjoy working with children 
  • Speaking another language in addition to English is an asset.

Rate of Pay

Students hired will be paid $14.00 per hour plus statutory and vacation pay, subject to applicable deductions.

Application Process

Candidates selected for an interview will receive an email the week April 9 stating the date, location and time of their interview. Candidates will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled interview and bring with them an updated resume and one recent reference letter.

Reference Letter

This letter could come from one of the following examples:

  • A TDSB staff person (teacher, guidance, principal)
  • A supervisor / mentor
  • A community leader

Pre-employment Training

Students will begin with pre-employment orientation on topics such as workplace health and safety, emergency first aid and recognizing and reporting on child abuse.
