Fairbank Public School's Mission Statement

Fairbank Public School serves a very diverse community of families that belong to many races, languages and cultures, which gives the school a  social richness that we cultivate and cherish.  Our staff is dedicated to creating opportunities for learning that ensure success for all our students. We are constantly learning new concepts and strategies, and challenging ourselves to do the best job possible for our students.  We believe that all students can and want to learn, so we emphasize the development of literacy, mathematics, and computer technology skills in all subject areas. Fairbank  provides specialized programming in Science, French, Health and Physical Education, Music and Visual Arts.

Instructional Technology

In our quest to address the learning needs of all students, Fairbank has SmartBoard technology in our classrooms.  This interactive teaching and learning resource makes it possible for all staff members to engage in interactive teaching and learning activities, thus providing immediate feedback to our students regarding improving their work product.  This strategy has proven to be particularly helpful in advancing the academic achievement of our male students as well as our students with special needs.  We also have sets of iPads and Chrome Books which teachers use regularly with their students.

WHAT SETS US APART

Fairbank recently underwent renovations during the summer of 2012 in preparation of our change from a middle school to a JK-Grade 8 school. The school features several renovated classrooms and a newly landscaped beautiful playground featuring many trees, grass, a sunken rock circle and a separate area for kindergarten students.

Fairbank is a Model School. Our School Community Worker Safia Ahmed has recently established a Newcomer Parents group for parents new to the school and/or community. Parents meet monthly and translators are provided as well as refreshments and presentations from government and community agencies and organizations.
