Adam Beck Junior Public School's Mission Statement

The Adam Beck program is based on the Ontario and TDSB initiatives. We aim to:

Provide a warm, welcoming, and safe learning environment in which our students build self esteem, confidence and learn to work together in mutual respect and trust. Meet the needs of the whole child - intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Help all students develop skills, knowledge, attitudes and values necessary to strive for academic excellence in all areas of the curriculum and to become self-disciplined, life long learners. Maintain and enhance partnerships between home, school, the community and among staff members. Support programs and initiatives which develop respect for the environment and the wise use of resources.

Our School

Adam Beck Public School is an 80 year old school located in the "Upper Beach" area of Toronto.
The school has an enrolment of over 485 students. Most students were born in Canada and most are from homes where English is the only language spoken.
Adam Beck is a dual track school offering both the English stream (JK-Grade 6) and the French stream (Senior Kindergarten - Grade 6) programs.
The Adam Beck Community Centre is attached to the school; this allows for shared use of space between Toronto Parks and Recreation and the School.

GO TEAM

At Adam Beck students are involved in many extracurricular activities.
In the area of athletics, students may participate in a variety of sports which include:
Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Slo-Pitch, and Track and Field.  We are fortunate to offer our students the opportunity to participate on our school hockey and swim team at off-site locations.

WHAT SETS US APART

Adam Beck is a dual track school which offers both an English and a French program. Both pathways begin in Kindergarten and end in Grade 6. French Immersion is an optional program which provides intensive instruction in French.
The French Immersion program develops in students a level of proficiency in French, while maintaining appropriate levels of English language skills. In other curriculum areas, when subjects are taught in French, outcomes parallel those of the regular English program, except that the language of instruction and learning materials are French.
At Adam Beck, Early French Immersion begins in Junior Kindergarten.  Students begin to understand and use French in their own time, usually by the end of Senior kindergarten. English as a language is introduced in Grade 4 and by Grade 6, the English program increases to approximately half of the daily class time.
