Going For Gold

Davis is an Eco-Friendly school. Our Green Team meets regularly to set goals and improve eco-friendly practises such as our Boomerang Litterless Lunches (the food that comes to school goes home if not eaten so it may be composted). We have recently attained Silver Eco-School status and we intend to go for gold this year!

Touching Technology

The intentional use of technology to support learning is a commitment at William G. Davis. Students have the opportunity to access ipads, Smartboards, computers and other forms of technology support students in accessing the curriculum. Student leadership is promoted in these areas through our Media Club. Responsible use of technology is inherent in all teachings.

It's About Character

Character education is embedded in our daily curriculum. Literacy is approached through big ideas linked to ten important character traits: Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, Kindness and Caring, Teamwork, Fairness, Honesty, Co-operation, Integrity and Perseverance. Students are held to a high behavioural standard. These expectations are explicitly taught and celebrated.

Healthy Body-Healthy Brain

Our affiliation with Toronto Schools on the Move has supported our efforts to maintain a high level of daily exercise for students. We have piloted our own DPA (Daily Physical Activity) program that ensures that every student receives a minimum of 30 minutes of high level activity every day. We believe that vigorous exercise and quality learning-time go hand in hand.
