Rouge Valley Public School's Mission Statement

Rouge Valley Public School, on the edge of the Rouge Valley, opened in May 1992. Serving 300 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, we represent the cultural diversity that makes up Toronto! A YMCA daycare centre is on site. There is a preschool program and a before/after school program for school age students.

Our school is committed to students by providing a learning environment that promotes the development of academic skills, knowledge and achievement, the growth of self-esteem and responsibility, and the demonstration of respect, cooperation and equity.

The parent community plays an active part in the daily activities of the school through the School Council, and parent volunteers.

- Early Childhood Education students from local colleges take advantage of our kindergarten classes and the YMCA day care as placement opportunities.
- Co-operative education students from our local secondary school are welcomed as they assist in the classroom.
-Former RVPS students volunteer to gain their community hours

More Information About Rouge Valley Public School

Athletic Opportunities

Students have the chance to try numerous athletic opportunities. Participation in houseleague, extra/co-curricular teams and clubs, and special presentations/workshops provide a range of options.

Musical Musings!

We are proud of the range of musical offerings that are available for our students! All students receive instruction from a music teacher. Vocal, recorders, drums, and instruments are just a few of the experiences that students have at Rouge Valley P.S.

Parental/Caregiver Involvement

Parental/caregiver involvement is vital to the success of our school! All parents/caregivers are invited to attend the Rouge Valley School Council meetings! School Council works with the Principal and staff to advise and learn more about what is happening within the school.  Fundraising initiatives have also been organized by the SAC.

Character Education

A safe and caring school is important for all students and they are what make this happen!  Opportunities are provided for students to contribute to the school atmosphere of respect and responsibility. Monthly assemblies are held to celebrate Character Traits and there are numerous clubs and activities for students to get involved in outside of their classrooms.

Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

Students at Rouge Valley P.S. are faced with many choices! While attending our school students have the opportunity to experience a range of academic, athletic, artistic, and social activities. New ideas developed by students are always encouraged!

WHAT SETS US APART

Our goal is to work with parents/caregivers to develop caring, compassionate, and curious individuals. We have high expectations of our students, but also of ourselves. Striving for improvement occurs at all levels!

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Parental/caregiver involvement is vital to the success of our school! All parents/caregivers are invited and welcome to attend the Rouge Valley School Council meetings! Please visit the school web site for minutes of these meetings and to see the future dates.

School Council has a long established fundraising mandate and the students benefit through trips, transportation, and special events being subsidized with the profits.

Again this year the School Council is supplying our Welcome to Kindergarten packages to the families of Junior Kindergarten students who will be starting school in September 2014.

Parents/caregivers are involved in supporting many special events at the school. For example, on skating and skiing days their help is vital to a safe, successful time for all!
