Brimwood Boulevard Junior Public School's Mission Statement

Brimwood Boulevard Junior Public School a busy dual-track French Immersion and English school, located just north of McCowan and Finch. Our school comprises approximately 340 Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. Our families represent diverse cultural backgrounds from many parts of the world, with the majority of Chinese and Tamil heritages.

OUR MISSION is to work together in  a safe, caring and inclusive environment to equip our students with the competencies they will need to flourish and become life-long, effective contributors in their local and global communities.

A Dual Track School - English and French Immersion

Brimwood offers a regular English program and a French Immersion program. French Immersion begins in Senior Kindergarten and is taught entirely in French until students reach Grade 4 when English is introduced. By Grade 6, a student's day is half French and half English and continue on in the program at Sir Alexander MacKenzie Sr. P.S. (S.A.M.) for Grade 7 and 8. Students in our English program take Core French in Grades 4-6 for 40 minutes each day. They attend Henry Kelsey Sr. P.S. for Grade 7 and 8, and some register in the Grade 7 Extended French Program at S.A.M.

More Information About Brimwood Boulevard Junior Public School

Focus on Academics

We believe that all children can learn and achieve their full potential, and to that end, we work together to provide a comprehensive system of support for our students. We examine school data to inform our instructional practice in literacy, math, science and social studies. Cross-curricular connections reinforce and solidify concepts learned in various contexts.

Focus on the Arts

Music, drama, dance, and visual arts comprise our creative and performing arts programs. Those with special aptitude in instrumental music receive band instruction from our itinerant music teacher, and all K-6 students receive vocal instruction from our music teacher. Assemblies and concerts give students opportunities to platform their artistic abilities.

Co-Curricular Activities

Our staff facilitates a variety of enrichment opportunities for our students to develop their leadership skills, promote character development, and help students identify and hone their talents and abilities. Some opportunities include: arts clubs, sports, choir, band, foot and bus safety patrollers, social justice, peer tutoring, PALS,  and technology squad.

Brimwood is a certified Eco-school!

We continue to strive to be a school community that is eco-friendly. We have been diligent in our efforts to ensure that each student and staff bring a litterless lunch, reducing the amount of garbage that we produce as a school, reducing, reusing and recycling, and composting organic food wastes.

Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

Student voice is very important at Brimwood as we involve students with decisions that affect their school life, including opportunities to initiate, plan, and lead many activities under the supervision of a staff member. Our junior students have many opportunities to identify and develop age appropriate leadership responsibilities, including helping in the office, leading the morning exercises with the national anthem, land acknowledgement and morning announcements, ambassadors to the school, library helpers, technology team, etc. Students have access to our SmartBoards, Lego WeDo, document cameras, digital projectors, Chromebooks and iPads. They take great pride in using technology to share their learning with their parents during Math/Literacy nights and parent engagement events.

WHAT SETS US APART

At Brimwood, we've got it right!  This is a school that aims for high academic standards and a hard-working staff of dedicated and caring professionals.  We represent many different parts of the world, but we work together in harmony. Our strength is our ability to empathetically rally around a social justice need and make a positive difference! The main thing that sets us apart is our students!  They make Brimwood the amazing school that it is!

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We benefit from a community of very supportive parents, who are committed to seeing their children achieve well in all aspects of school life. We are particularly thankful for our School Council - small in numbers - but huge in their commitment to Brimwood. They organize fundraisers to help us access resources to support student learning and success, and host a number of parent-focused workshops. Our Community Liaison Police Officer visits the school to present street safety guides and different forms of bullying as well as the training of our foot and bus safety patrollers. Woodside Square welcomes our classes for regular visits to the library and special events in the mall. Our Community Cares Club leads the school in a number of social justice activities, which has included our food drive for Agincourt Food Bank.
