Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute's Mission Statement

Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute, one of the largest facilities in the Toronto District School Board, offers strong academic courses, unique and special programs, and an exceptional range of co-curricular activities. In meeting the needs of a diverse, multicultural community, we strive to foster mutual respect, to encourage participation, and to develop life skills.

The school also has a large Extended French and French Immersion program. A wide selection of courses and co-curricular activities are offered in French. Students participate successfully in speech and writing competitions in French. They also are involved in exchanges to locations in Europe in senior years.

Cedarbrae has a tradition of excellence in core subject areas, including Mathematics, English, Science, Languages, and Social Sciences. There is a complete range of business, and computer courses. We have a fine-arts program, including illustration, drawing and painting, desktop publishing. Dramatic arts, instrumental music, and vocal music, are also available.   Co-op education is available in almost every subject in the school. Cedarbrae has both  ESL and LEAP programs.  Cedarbrae offers a variety of technological education opportunities. Cedarbrae currently runs a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Construction and Business.

Technology Program

Our Technology Program offers courses in communications, design and construction, digital photography, transportation technology, architectural design and custom wood-working.  Students can continue through to apprenticeship programs if they wish. Cedarbrae has a Construction SHSM.

English as a Second Language

We welcome everyone to our school. We offer extensive English as a second language (ESL) and English literacy development programs including Language Enrichment Academic Program (LEAP). We begin assisting students when they apply to our school and we continue to support them throughout their school career.

Nutrition for Learning

We offer a full breakfast for any student every school day. Our volunteers prepare a nutritious breakfast based on the Canada Food Guide and the Student nutrition program. We also offer a Morning Meal program at the beginning of each lunch period.

Business

Business classes continue to be some of the most popular courses offered at Cedarbrae. Students in grade eleven and twelve can opt for the Specialist High School Major (S.H.S.M) program and further develop their business knowledge and skills.

Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

Cedarbrae offers a wide range of curricular and co-curricular choices. We are partnered with Scarborough Hospital, creating an unique opportunity to explore careers in health care. You can also volunteer at the hospital to complete your 40 hours of community service.

At Cedarbrae you can find excellent instruction and exciting teams and clubs. Cedarbrae Colts have won many team and individual championships.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

- School has links with the Cedarbrae Public Library, Cedarbrae Mall, Scarborough Hospital, General location. - The school also works with Toronto Volunteer Association-Scarborough Branch. - Affiliation with 43 Division of Metro Police through the School Action Team (SAT) - - - - - - - - School Council meets monthly six to eight times a year to advise administration on matters relating to policy and students. A full slate of council executive is in place.
