School Improvement Plans

Our School Improvement Plans for curriculum are summarized in one goal.
Teachers will engage in a series of PD opportunities (including literacy curriculum and literacy concepts, as well as mathematics curriculum and math concepts) while using focused instruction informed by assessment focusing on our at-risk students.

Stanley's Code of Conduct

Everyone at our school has the right to feel safe, be treated with respect and learn.  All students will follow school & class rules and routines by adhering to the schools "Do the Right Thing" code of conduct, solve problems by talking, display a positive attitude toward all people, and show respect for school property & property of others.

Student Leadership at Stanley

We are working towards empowering the leaders for tomorrow by building character and responsibility in our students. We choose a monthly character trait and have an assembly to celebrate those students who have demonstrated the Future Ace/Character Trait consistently. We also have “Aces in Action” announcements for those students caught demonstrating a Character Trait.

To further support our goal of empowering students, we have a grade four “Community Builders” session. These students receive training in how to deal with difficult situations and how to support each other in their personal growth.

At Stanley, we also have a Student Council (grades 3 to 5) who has a focus on ECO Schools initiatives. Their activities include fundraising, raising awareness and leading school wide events.

Co-Curricular Activities

Stanley hosts a wide variety of intramural events and teams. One of our specialty programs this year was the Martial Arts-Tutoring Program (MATS). The program helps develop control and inner discipline and enhances our focus on character education.
We also participate in specialized sports programs such as Tennis Canada; Fun and Athletics Program and Yoga for Girls.

Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

Safe Schools Focus:
When students and staff feel safe, then we can learn together.
We ensure that this happens by creating consistency of school rules and the enforcement of them. We also support our students through cohesive staff involvement. We have a highly successful partnerhips with Hinks-Dellcrest and Community Builders that build community while supporting our students to problem solve effectively and develop leadership skills.  Currently, our Young Women on the Move club addresses the issue of positive friendships and positive self esteem and is supported by our Ryerson Nursing students year long.
Reading skills are emphasized through Boys Read to Succeed, and Silver Birch Club. Building connections within the community is also modelled for the students at Stanley. We have high school mentorship and co-op students who are part of the Big Brother’s/Big Sister’s program, and our partnership with the St.Clement's school  provide valuable tutoring and mentorship to our students as does the Exercise to Success high school student mentorship program led by TDSB Social Workers.

WHAT SETS US APART

Children's Breakfast Club/Healthy Snack Program: This partnership with the Children's Breakfast Club provides our students with hot breakfast each morning. The Breakast Club is instrumental in accessing and providing valuable opportunities for our students. (Ex. gift of new bikes within the Bike Safety Rodeo, gr. 5 day trip to Ottawa)

First Lego League
Specialized Instruction:  We ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to participate in Dancing Classrooms, Artist in the School, Scientist in the School & Media Literacy sessions.
