Lamberton Public School's Mission Statement

Reopened since 1984,  Lamberton Public School offers many exciting programs to meet the needs of all of our students!  Our community includes the area surrounding our school, the Sentinel/Fountainhead area, and York University. We presently accommodate a total of 290 students from Kgn. to Grade 5. We represent 30 different language groups, with approx. 74% of our families speaking English as a second language at home. We are very proud of our school's rich cultural heritage.
In our endeavour to meet curriculum expectations, we continue to develop a positive learning environment where academic success is the norm. Parents are encouraged to become full partners, and teachers regularly seek to improve their practice.

International Language Programs

Lamberton has a number of International Language Programs that run every Wednesday evening from 3:30-6:00. These programs are offered through the Continuing Education Dept. of the Board. The language classes which are currently being offered include: Urdu, Mandarin simplified, Spanish, Arabic and Tamil. We always seek to support parent and community involvement!

More Information About Lamberton Public School

Arts Education

Lamberton has a focus on Arts education. We have a regular Music program plus Steel pan for our Grade  3 students. Our students are exposed to a rich ensemble of vocal music, as well as a variety of instruments. These include: pitched and non-pitched percussions, Orff instruments, and steel pans. Arts is expressed as students' voice across the curriculum.

We are also fortunate to have an itinerant music teacher who comes into our school to work with our students on our steel pans.  Both our students and our parents value and enjoy the rich Arts program at Lamberton!

Focus on Nutrition

Since healthy eating is connected to brain development we encouraging all students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and lunches to school every day!  We run a Morning Meal program that serves diary, fruit and grain item to our students who wish to participate.
Since many students  have allergies to nuts we are working towards our school being a Nut Free Zone.

Due to allergies with nuts we regularly encourage our students NOT to share their food with friends and classmates. We respect the dietary restrictions of all of our students.
We are working towards our school being a Nut Free Zone.
Students with allergies are advise to complete A Student Medical Alert Form ( Form 536 C) and have their EPI -Pen on their body at all times.

Assemblies

We hold monthly assemblies to recognize those students who have modeled the T.D.S.B.'s monthly character traits. Students and staff leads the assembly with the help of our Leadership Students, a group of our Jr.'s, who are aspiring to leadership within the school. Students who best exemplify  the trait of the month are presented with a certificate at each assembly.

Focus on Equity

At Lamberton, our staff  implement an inclusive approach to the design and delivery of curriculum. This leads to an environment of supporting student well being by nurturing a sense of belonging. In our classrooms we celebrate multicultural events throughout the year.  Our front foyer showcase, reflects the on-going diversity of our community.

WHAT SETS US APART

Most of the students at Lamberton arrive and leave by school bus every day. We therefore try to involve our students in extra-curricular activities at lunch-time and occasionally after school. Students are welcome to take part in our rich Arts and musical opportunities. Those students who are still looking for more extra-curricular activities can choose from a number of clubs that are offered at different grade levels. Our staff has been highly accommodating in making sure that our students enjoy a rich and full day, even though they arrive and leave on the buses!
Lamberton also has a School Settlement worker, Mrs. Ying Yan, who works closely with our parents and school to promote greater understanding.  Mrs. Yan regulary reaches out to our Newcomer parents and provides interpretation and workshops according to their needs and interests.  She is a highly valuable part of our Lamberton community!
