Strong Literacy & Numeracy Programs
Students continue to score above TDSB and Ministry expectations in both grades 3 and 6 EQAO results. Reading is assessed using DRA (SK to grade 3 in English) Alpha Jeunes (SK-grade 3 French Immersion) and CASI (Grades 4-6). Assisted by our literacy and numeracy coaches, teachers participate in learning pathways by developing common rubrics and curriculum planning.
Sports Program
We are fortunate to offer physical education classes with a teacher with specialist qualification. We are proud of our many boys and girls teams who spend many hours of practice to bring home banners that hang proudly in our gym.
Proud to be ECOO School Recipient
Brian is proud to have received gold recognition as part of ECO Schools. We are continuing to work actively with our committee of staff, students and parents to reduce garbage through litterless lunches and recycling and are currently investigating projects to beautify our school grounds.
Music Program
We are fortunate to offer formalized music instruction to all our students by a music specialist teacher. In grade 3 students have the opportunity to learn recorder. WHAT SETS US APART
Brian Public School students continue to perform both above TDSB and Ministry of Education standards in our grade 3 and 6 EQAO results. We are proud of our hard working staff and students who have created a safe, welcoming and caring school where diversity is respected and valued. Our school code of conduct and the TDSB character traits are now embedded in every aspect of daily life here at École Brian Public School.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Brian has a very active School Council where community members run a variety of school and fundraising activities and work in partnership with the school. Our parent volunteers assist in school activities: library, play day, fundraising, classroom presentations and other special events such as Pizza Lunches
We host after-school Pleasant View Community Recreation Programs and two community run childcares: Brian Petits Amis, and YMCA First Base Program. We partner with several universities such as OISE, Lakehead and Ryerson to support student teachers from many Faculties of Education. Co-op students from neighbourhood high schools assist teachers in supporting our students. International Greek and Mandarin languages programs are offered through Continuing Education after school on a weekly basis.
