East York Collegiate Institute (EYCI) is a dynamic learning community founded on respect and dedicated to ensuring every student is successful every day. EYCI is a welcoming and inclusive school, where students regardless of difference see themselves in the curriculum and feel comfortable taking academic risks in an environment where respect and trust underpin each experience. At the core of all learning is a focus on skills including creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, responsible citizenry and good character. French Immersion

East York Collegiate Institute offers an excellent French Immersion program. Teachers have developed an outstanding and challenging curriculum that enables students to reach their potential. Students may choose from a variety of courses taught entirely in French. Students in the program can obtain two cerificates: The Honours Certificate of Bilingual Studies and The Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion.

Athletics

A healthy mind in a healthy body.  There are many opportunities for students to find this balance in their school lives by participating in a variety of athletic activities. EYCI has a rich history of sporting success and offers many male & female teams at the junior and senior levels.

Arts

Imagine and do! Students can explore visual, musical & dramatic arts at EYCI. Many of the Arts courses connect with co-curricular events at the school: Choir, Concert, and Guitar band performances, Drama performances, and Art displays at the Sir Walter Stewart Public Library.
 

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)

East York C.I. offers students the opportunity to be awarded a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Manufacturing. Those pursuing this SHSM will explore the changing field of manufacturing through coursework, reach-ahead activities and co-operative education.  Students may also choose to take dual credits through local community colleges.

Student Life - Where You Belong

GO TEAM

Being a student at EYCI is more rewarding when you take full advantage of what we have to offer. Students are encouraged to make the most of their high school experience by participating in extra-curricular clubs, athletic teams, and through community service.  Students are also encouraged to support each other in achieving both academic and personal success.
Students can also take their learning to new levels with school trips to New York City and Princeton University. 
Our community is one in which self respect as well as respect for others, property, and learning are the core of who we are.
 

WHAT SETS US APART

For more than 80 years our students have been part of a long tradition of curricular and co-curricular excellence and success. EYCI students excel in many math and science competitions and regularly receive entrance awards and scholarships for post secondary placements. The Goliaths and Athenas have captured many awards and are recognised throughout the TDSB as determined and high achievers in athletics.
East York C.I. is a certified Platinum EcoSchool and we continue to make great strides to give our students the skills and knowledge they need to be environmentally responsible citizens.
EYCI is at the heart of its community and has made significant contributions to both community and global fund-raising efforts.
Our success is measured by the achievement of all of our students.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Hager-Hull Miller is EYCI's long-standing alumnae association and is an integral part of our school's success. They, along with members of the EYCI community support very generous exit scholarships for our graduates.
A wide spectrum of co-op opportunities are provided through our Local Business Partnerships.
EYCI has agency partnerships with Central Toronto Youth Services, Toronto Parks and Recreation, Mindfulness Without Borders and Trinity Theatre.
