The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

The Toronto District School Board is committed to equity and community engagement, and by providing this tool, we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English.

Google Translate Frequently Asked Questions

Communicating with Constituents

Communicating with your constituents through newsletters, brochures or letters is also an effective way to stay in touch and keep your community updated on TDSB programs and initiatives.

The TDSB has a policy that guides trustee constituency communications that are paid for using Board funds. For more information, see Policy P018 Trustee Constituency Communications.

The TDSB also has a procedure that outlines the process for addressing concerns brought to staff and trustees
by parents. For more information, see PR505 Parent Concern Protocol or the Steps to Address Your Questions and Concerns information on the TDSB website.

Updating Your Trustee Website

Trustee webpages on the public TDSB website can be accessed by visiting Your Administrative Liaisons have been trained to manage your web presence on the TDSB website. Requests to post content on your Trustee webpage should be directed to your Administrative Liaison.

Communications and Public Affairs will also be conducting training sessions for trustees who wish to manage and update their own websites. Information on these sessions will be posted to the training sessions page. In the meantime, Communications & Public Affairs has created a step-by-step guide for logging in to your website and a short video that walks you through updating your site.

For more information about the type of information that can be posted to your webpage on the public website, please see PR 652 Trustee Web Site Pages. Please note this procedure can only be accessed on the internal TDSB website.

Hosting a Ward Forum

As trustee, you may wish to hold regular ward forums to update your constituents on TDSB programs and initiatives, and hear directly from them regarding questions or concerns they may have.
Ward forums are typically held in one of the schools in your ward. In order to secure this space, you must first obtain a permit by completing and submitting an application form. The Administrative Liaisons in your department can assist you with this process. Learn more about permits at the TDSB.
Once you have secured a permit, continue to work with the Administrative Liaisons who can provide support with the following:

  • Agenda preparation and distribution
  • Preparation and dissemination of meeting notices
  • Meeting logistics (e.g. A/V equipment, booking media services staff)
  • Recording meeting minutes
