Fern Avenue houses a wonderful Parenting Centre within the school. They are located on the main floor, just west of the main office. The program is supervised and run by Linda Wilson.
The Parenting Centre is a dynamic, bright space that offers parent(s)/caregiver(s) the opportunity to drop-in and experience coordinated fun activities, organized use of the school’s auditorium, story time sessions, sing-a-longs and class play-time. The facility runs from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 12:45pm.
Linda Wilson will often organize pot-luck lunches, special events and family literacy events for the community during the course of the school year.
Fern Avenue is a proud Eco-School. The program has been at Fern for 4 years and has maintained Platinum status. Students involved in the program have learned the responsibility of making our school a ‘greener’ place. They have lead discussions at Eco-Forums, participated in Audit Wastes, composting practices, recycling initiatives and have established a Fern garden.
