In Our School
In 2009, Malvern created a video, “Malvern is The Place to Be”. The process of creating the video was collaborative and the staff and students alike enjoyed the process and the final product. It was previewed at "Winter Celebration" evening and many families enjoy this video as they watch it in their home. A real keepsake!

Malvern Jr. P.S. is a Great Place to Be
Students, staff, and parents believe that Malvern is a great place to be. Although we deem Malvern is the place to be, we recognize that there is always room for improvement and are continuously striving to make Malvern better. Our focus on character development ensures that all individuals are treated with respect and know that they are expected to act in a responsible, kind, and caring manner. Integrity, co-operation, honesty, and fairness are key elements to success at Malvern Jr. Assemblies, workshops, teams, and class discussions all have the common element of having students respect and appreciate the differences of others.
Literacy
At Malvern Jr., we are committed to improving student literacy. Teachers have established effective strategies to address student needs and are striving to ensure that all students will be able to independently read and understand their reading. With early and focused intervention for struggling students, we are able to track and celebrate student achievement.
Mathematics
We aim for all students to improve their ability to demonstrate their mathematical thinking in multi-step problem solving. Students work to connect the two core subject areas, Language and Math. Teachers have received extensive professional development on teaching mathematics and our primary and junior divisions are closely aligned and focused on student improvement.
Pathways
We are committed to the achievement of goals and have high expectations for all students. Through dedicated classroom teaching, collaboration, Reading Recovery and Talking Literacy programs, and expertise of resource personnel, our students with IEPs, identified students, and “at risk” students will all have opportunities for progress to achieve their set targets.
Additional Programs
We also offer numerous programs to enhance student life and experiences. In the Arts we provide choirs at the primary and junior level and band for our junior students. Students are given opportunities in sports: cross country, volleyball, soccer, flag football, houseleague and track and field. Leadership is available in our safety patrol program.
