Special Programs

We are fortunate to offer a variety of support programs at Hunter's Glen.  We have two self-contained special education classes for children with developmental disabilities.  We also provide academic support to small groups of students through our Home School program, two resource teachers and our half-time ESL/ESD program. As well, a small group of students in grade one who are experiencing difficulty with reading receive assistance through The Reading Recovery program which provides intensive support in both reading and writing.

School Focus for This School Year

Our school is currently using the Teaching Learning Critical Pathway in order to target specific skills that have been identified as an area of need for our students.  This involves staff collaboration in developing tasks, marking assessments and monitoring student achievement.  When you walk through our school it is evident that our staff are working together on common goals in order to support our students in their academic success.  We are a Ministry 'School in the Middle' which means we are moving from good to GREAT!

Technology

Our staff make use of multimedia computer/projector carts to bring the world wide web to their class.  Our computer lab has 26 computers which provide students with the opportunity to develop keyboarding skills and to utilize a variety of programs. When teachers and students have acces to computers the possibilities for teaching and learning are without limits.
