Centennial Road Jr. P.S. has been a part of the community for over 100 years when S.S. #11 was set up in 1836 to serve the children living along the Scarborough - Pickering border.  The present school opened on October 11, 1946, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 1995-1996 school year.

The school culture reflects the historical traditions and values set by the community coupled with the most recent growth and development of retail shops and housing sub-divisions.

Language For Communication

Students use their skills and knowledge to speak, view, listen, read and write to respond to, create and understand information.  We are teaching our students to communicate effectively by introducing various writing forms, utilizing the writing process, sharing key strategies (detail, voice, organization, conventions) and providing authentic opportunities to learn.

Problem Solving in Mathematics

Learning mathematics is more than a mastery of basic skills.  Students are provided with opportunities to learn mathematical structures, operations, processes, patterns and language in all five math strands.  Our focus is for our students to use these tools (knowledge and skills) to reason, justify conclusions and express ideas clearly when solving problems.
