The Arts
The Arts continue to be an important part of our academic program at Brimwood and we are very proud of the fine work our teachers are doing to instill a love for music, dance, drama and visual arts in our students.
A Dual-Track School
Brimwood offers both a regular English program and a French Immersion program. Students begin French Immersion in Senior Kindergarten and are taught entirely in French until they reach Grade 4 when English is introduced. By Grade 6, a student's day is half French and half English. We are equally proud of our regular program where students are taught entirely in English until Grade 4 when they start to learn French for 40 minutes per day. All our teachers in both the English and French track are warm, nurturing individuals who are committed to facilitating a positive learning environment for each student. Focus on Academics
Our teachers continue to collaborate and work diligently to provide quality education for each student. Our ESL and Special Education programs aim at providing support to students who require a more focused support.
Co-Curricular Activities
It is always our hope to offer our students a variety of opportunities to that will develop students' leadership skills, promote character development, and help students identify and hone their talents and abilities. Each year these opportunities vary; however, some co-curricular activities have included: clubs, teams, choir, band, safety patrol, and student council.
Brimwood is a certified Eco-school!
We continue to strive to be a school community that is eco-friendly. To do this we have doubled our efforts to ensure that each and every student and staff brings a litterless lunch and reducing the amount of garbage that we produce as a school. We have also been very conscious of how we use paper in the school - remembering to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Kindness, Caring and Character
Our staff and students are engaged in many activities that foster character development, social responsibility and safe school practices. We have Student of the Month assemblies to acknowledge those students who demonstrate our monthly character traits. We also partner with the local Scarborough food bank by running food drives to help them stock their cupboards.
