Sir Wilfrid Laurier, (1841– 1919) was the seventh Prime Minister of Canada (1896 – 1911). His portrait is displayed on the Canadian five-dollar bill. Laurier was Canada's first francophone Prime Minister and the fourth longest serving Prime Minister of Canada. His nearly 45 years of service in the House of Commons is a record in Canadian politics, unmatched by any other politician.

Come to Laurier and enter a school where fairness, understanding, and mutual respect are practised every day.  Our beautiful natural setting provides a basis to integrate environmental awareness into our geography, science, art and physical education courses.  Our well-rounded programs offer you many opportunities for apprenticeship and workplace experiences.  At Laurier we are committed to the development of  "character education".  Our goal is to establish behaviours and attitudes that are beneficial to the development of principled and contributing members of the community.  The administrators, teachers, and support staff are dedicated to helping students make the most of their high school learning experience.

2012-2013 Features


INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE-Our first cohort began in 2010. Our forty-five graduating IB students achieved higher averages than corresponding world averages. EQAO-Laurier is pleased to announce that the Grade 10 Literacy scores continue to improve with a 78% success rate in 2012. HONOUR ROLL-Laurier is very proud of the five hundred and thirty students who achieved an overall average grade of 80% or greater. Better Than Mirrors-is an excellent student initiated and led mental health forum established at Laurier.

Laurier's broad co-curricular program offers students many opportunities for involvement in teams, clubs, and performances. Student leadership groups such as the Student Administrative Council (SAC), Character Education, Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), United Cultures Club (UCC), Green Team, Yearbook Club, Better Than Mirrors, Model United Nations and our award winning Youth Action Team play an important role in ensuring an inclusive atmosphere is maintained at the school and assist in organizing special events.

Laurier has embraced the TDSB Student Success initiative founded on the principles that all pathways -apprenticeship, college, university and workplace- are equally valued and supported. We offer extensive Co-op programs and a Specialist High Skills Major in Hospitality and Tourism with plans for a SHSM in Sports and Entertainment. We offer an OYAP partnership with Borden.

At Laurier, we have excellent facilities, a great neighbourhood and beautiful outdoor grounds.  We offer many subjects, including communication technology courses using "state of the art" equipment.  Our well-equipped gyms and pool with spectator gallery are among the largest in the TDSB. We also feature a 900 seat auditorium for student and community performances.

Laurier offers a wide variety of arts programs. Our visual arts courses allow you to express yourself through photography, painting, pottery and ceramics. Whether you play an instrument or love to sing, we have a course for you.  Our popular dance courses explore African, modern, jazz and hip hop dance. On stage or behind the scenes our drama classes have a spot for you.
