We help students 21 and older earn high school credits or certification in an adult setting free of charge. Yorkdale's certification programs include Hairstyling, Aesthetics, Practical Nursing, P.S.W, Childcare Assistant and Co-operative Education. We offer ongoing support and many program options that recognize a student's need to combine school, work, and family commitments. Up to three credits toward a high school diploma can be earned in just nine weeks. Our credit courses lead to college, university, Yorkdale certification programs or directly to employment. Yorkdale students are eligible for additional credits (PLAR) to fulfill the requirements of a high school diploma.
Ed-Vance
Ed-Vance is for students between 18 and 20 years of age who have been away from school for at least one semester. It is a great opportunity to continue your studies and earn your diploma. You can earn credits fast- up to 12 credits in just one year! Plus, take advantage of PLAR to earn even more credits. Ed-Vance students enjoy breakfast every morning, intramural sports, fieldtrips, small class sizes, dedicated and caring teachers, and a Guidance Councellor and Youth Worker to provide ongoing support. ENERGY- Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)
The SHSM is a ministry approved program that allows students to focus on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.
Students enrolled in the SHSM-Energy will be involved in today’s rapid and exciting changes in technology while having good prospects for a varied career in an emerging sector. An abundance of opportunities are available in this sector because of the aging energy workforce, coupled with increasing public demand for greener power sources.

Coop, Business and Technology
Develop your resume, practice your interview skills and gain practical work experience, expand your network and obtain an Ontario employment reference.
Enrol in our Broad-based Technology program and learn basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, computerized accounting. AutoCAD, Web Design, and Cisco Academy.
Aesthetics and Hairstyling

Do you have a flare for art, colour and make-up and want to fulfill your dreams of becoming a qualified aesthetician? Combine nine weeks of class instruction with nine week Co-op in a spa-like setting to learn manicures, pedicures, make-up application, massage and skin care and earn a recognized certificate.

Personal Support Worker and Child Care Assistant
PSW-You will earn a Personal Support Worker certificate as well as nine credits toward your high school diploma.
An18-week program consisting of nine weeks in class learning about the developmental stages from birth to 6 years old and nine week apprenticeship. Earn six credits toward your high school diploma.
Practical Nursing
Semester 1 at Yorkdale leads to admission into semesters 2, 3 and 4 at the George Brown college.
You will learn the foundations of anatomy and physiology, health and wellness, and terminology for the health care field and practical skills in the nursing lab. You will receive a diploma from George Brown College upon completion of the four semesters.
