The new McKee Public School, completed in 1998, is located just south of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue in the expanding Yonge Street Corridor. We are adjacent to Mitchell Field Community Centre. We offer programs for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Five. McKee Public School currently serves over 735 students and is diverse in its makeup. English as a second language support assists many of our students. McKee McKids offers daycare programs for our students and a nursery program for preschool children. From its inception in 1927 to its present period of rapid growth, McKee Public School has always maintained a community focus. McKee is a wheelchair accessible building. We are a Platinum Certified Eco-School (2011).

We offer students state of the art equipment. We have 2 fully functional computer labs, offering PC's and MacIntosh computers. We have recently acquired additional SmartBoards and are looking to increase our complement over the next few years. Media Literacy and computer technology are strong foci at McKee Public School.

Literacy
At McKee,we are dedicated to providing a challenging program for our English speaking population as well as for our very large English as a Second Language students. Each term we follow a teaching learning critical pathway with a focus on non-fiction reading material. We have a dynamic Media Literacy Programme where students apply critical thinking skills using technology. Read more about Literacy
Mathematics
Our Mathematics Programme encompases 5 strands including; Number Sense and Numeration, Geometry and Spatial Sense, Measurement, Data Management and Probability and Patterning and Algebra. Problem Solving is woven throughout the 5 strands. An emphasis is on hands-on learning. We offer both enrichment and remediation math clubs. Read more about Mathematics
Community, Culture and Caring
We value our over 200 volunteers and co-op students. We enjoy a partnership with Public Health who provide a Mentorship Programme. We are an OISE teacher education site. Settlement Workers on site provide support for our newest Canadians. Earl Haig students partner with our teachers to provide a math tutoring club. McKee McKids Enrichment Centre offers childcare. Student Success Initiatives
Through the Reading Recovery Programme, 1 teacher provides support for our at-risk grade 1 students. Grade 3 boys who are reluctant readers participate our Boys' Reading Club. The BRASS Programme offers social skills enhancement to our primary students. Read more about Student Success Initiatives
