The mission of Cassandra P.S.; a diverse, environmentally friendly school with extensive community involvement, is to empower and inspire each individual to become a responsible, empathetic and successful member of society, through a positive, caring and supportive learning environment.

FACT!
During the construction of Cassandra a Gingko Tree was planted at the school. The Gingko Tree was once widely scattered over the globe according to fossil evidence. The oldest leaf fossils of Gingko Trees predate the dinosaurs back to about 270 million years ago. The Gingko may be the oldest living seed plant. The Gingko Tree is thus considrered by some to be one of the Wonders of the World. The oldest individual living Gingko Trees in the world today are found in the temple grounds of China, Korea and Japan. Some of these trees are said to be 4000 years old.
This Year At Cassandra, we will strive to:
- improve Literacy and Numeracy skills of all students
- highlight knowledge and care of our environment
- update and use information technology as a tool for learning
- establish a safe and caring school environment through Character Education programming including TRIBES
- create opportunities for all students

ECOschools
At Cassandra P.S., the students, staff and parents exhibit a caring attitude toward environmental issues. As a Platinum Eco School we are an Organic Waste Pilot Project School, Walk to School Participant and Active School. We also have a Booerang Lunch program and our students have learned to appreciate and value the environment. Read more about ECOschools
Student Support Services
We offer programs and services to support the various needs of our students. We host a self contained special education program for students with an identified communication exeptionality in addition to ESL support, resource teachers and a Home School Program for identified students from Grades 1-5. We also have Reading Recovery support for our Grade 1 students.
A School on the Move!
In 2009 Cassandra PS joined an elite group of schools across the province by being recognized as a School on the Move. The Schools on the Move initiative celebrates schools that are making significant and sustained progress in student achievement, and connects them with other schools that have similar backgrounds and challenges.
