During the construction of Cassandra a Gingko Tree was planted at the school. The Gingko Tree was once widely scattered over the globe according to fossil evidence. The oldest leaf fossils of Gingko Trees predate the dinosaurs back to about 270 million years ago. The Gingko may be the oldest living seed plant. The Gingko Tree is thus considrered by some to be one of the Wonders of the World. The oldest individual living Gingko Trees in the world today are found in the temple grounds of China, Korea and Japan. Some of these trees are said to be 4000 years old.
