ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH EFFORT

West Humber is a dynamic secondary school that fosters active learning through interaction and involvement. Students and staff are most proud of the school culture. The focus is on treating each other with respect and dignity. The caring and supportive environment allows students to feel at home while at school and to do their best as they prepare for the world ahead. The school has a well-established, positive and active partnership with the community. Our mission statement is: "WE CARE". Our goal is to equip every student with the academic and social skills needed to be successful, to understand the value of lifelong learning, to develop healthy interpersonal relationships and to be prepared for a rapidly changing workplace.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Our students are empowered to take intiative and be leaders in our community. We offer a three-level Leadership Certificate Program that gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership and organizational skills. Collaborating together, students plan and organize many events throughout the year that are designed to cultivate school spirit, and promote student involvement in the community. The school also offers Grade 9 Albion Hills and Grade 10 Camp Manitou Leadership Programs where senior students have an opportunity to facilitate and mentor younger students.
