Giving students what they need to succeed!

2012-2013 Features

Westwood Middle School operates on a core model, with more rotary subjects as students progress to grades 7 and  8.
Our outdoor space features a generous playing field surrounded by a large track.  There are beautiful trees encircling the area, some of which were planted this year through our EcoSchools initiatives.
Our school building has specialized rooms for science, music, visual art and physical education.  Our learning commons includes a library, a classroom and two computer labs. This allows students to immerse themselves in varied learning experiences.

We are a Gold EcoSchool Photo

We are a Gold EcoSchool

The EcoTeam has worked hard to foster a school community which respects the environment.  Student leaders engage in ongoing projects to advocate for the environment within the school and community.

This year, the EcoTeam has challenged the school community to reduce waste and conserve energy.

Remember, an ECOSCHOOL is a COOL SCHOOL!

Learning is for Life Photo

Learning is for Life

Westwood staff recognizes that they are important role models of life-long learning for their students. Staff regularly meet to engage in professional learning to ensure the learning needs of our students are being met. This year, we are focused on descriptive feedback, common learning goals, co-creating success criteria and culturally relevant pedagogy.
