Toronto District School Board

Information about students and our communities help fuel what we do in our schools and allows us to make more informed decisions to enhance student success.

By linking people, improving system capacity, and sharing information, Research & Information Services:

  • Shares tools and techniques to help educators make evidence-based decisions
  • Publishes brief, summary and comprehensive reports on research projects
  • Conducts training and professional development to improve teaching and learning practices
  • Monitors and tracks programs and services
  • Encourages learning communities to share best practices

Research & Information Services are leaders in public education research and are an important source of information for community partners – locally, nationally, and internationally. Research strengthens partnerships and collaboration among municipal and provincial organizations and community agencies such as Toronto Public Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

Every five years parents are invited to participate in the Census that supports strategies and adjusting programming to further strengthen our school system and help every student succeed. Learn more about what the census results mean to students and our schools.

An evaluation of the EQAO results and our Learning Opportunity Index (LOI) are also conducted so that the right supports can be directed where they are needed most.

Read our environmental scan for a full report on TDSB schools, students, staff, and curriculum.

Are you or your organization interested in conducting research within our schools? Please check out our external research application to learn how.
