What is the TDSB Fit for Life Fun Run?
The TDSB Fit for Life Fun Run is an event for our whole community to celebrate a year of health and physical activity. Everyone is invited to join us, lace up those sneakers and participate in a 5K run or a 2.5K Community on the Move Event.
Why are we doing the Fun Run?
The launch of the TDSB Fit for Life Fun Run is an opportunity to celebrate the Board's focus on healthy, active living and to promote participation in the Run. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the first year of the system-wide Fit for Life program which strives to physically and mentally prepare students to be able to reach their academic potential.
Who can participate?
Everyone – students, staff and community! There is something for everyone whether it’s the 5K run or the 2.5K Community on the Move event, everyone can take part.
Is there a cost to participate?
There is no registration fee for the event but we are hoping that schools will work together to raise some funds in support of nutrition programs across the Board.
What can I do to support fundraising for the Toronto Foundation for Student Success?
We have set up a website where donations are welcome and accepted. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family
Is transportation provided?
Transportation will not be provided by the TDSB but Downsview Park is accessible by TTC.
Will there be supervision?
Please note that attendance at this event is completely optional for TDSB families. There will be no adult supervision of children and no transportation to/from this event provided by the TDSB. Parents/guardians are responsible for the care and supervision of their child/ren at the Fun Run event.
If a school signs up to do the Run as part of a class or a Run Club though, the expectation is that appropriate supervision would be provided. Please talk to your child’s teacher.
What does the event look like?
The event will not only include the run, there will be lots of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
Are there activities for all ages?
Yes. All ages can participate in an event as well as enjoy the entertainment.
How do I register myself and/or my child?
Yes! Registration is online and will only take a few minutes. Registration is open until May 1, 2012.
Is the event rain or shine?
Yes!
What should we plan to bring with us for the day?
We’d love to see you share your TDSB pride by wearing green or your school colours! You might also want to bring some food or water, sun block, sunglasses and lots of enthusiasm!
