Following Wednesday’s special meeting of the Toronto District School Board, Donna Quan has officially accepted the role of Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer of the TDSB in an acting capacity beginning January 16th, 2013 until the date of the appointment of the next Director of Education.
Having served as the Board’s Deputy Director for the past two and a half years, Ms. Quan will assume the full duties of Director of Education.
Ms. Quan, who brings 30 years of education experience to the position, began her education career in 1983 with teaching roles in a number of elementary schools, including experience in French Immersion and Out-of-Province Native Reserve schools.
In 1985, Donna began her career at the TDSB, where she established one of the first non-profit, school-based Early Years Childcare Centres. Since then, she has held a number of progressively senior positions within the TDSB including Principal, Families of Schools Superintendent, System and Executive Superintendent, with leadership for Safe and Caring Schools, Alternative Programs and Schools, School Improvement, Inner City and Information Management. In addition, she has worked at the Ministry of Education and has contributed as a presenter and speaker at International forums.
• Donna Quan received her Bachelors of Education from the University of Toronto and received her Masters of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
• Ms. Quan is married and has three grown daughters.
