TDSB Students Remain Strong in Literacy, Maintain Solid Test Results

Students from the Toronto District School Board remain strong in the area of literacy according to information released today by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO).

Results from the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) show that the Board has maintained a pass rate of 81 per cent, while the provincial pass rate decreased by one per cent to 82 per cent, narrowing the gap between the provincial and TDSB pass rates.

The OSSLT is only one of several indicators that are used to measure student progress at the secondary level. Other indicators of success include Grade 9 and Grade 10 credit accumulation, subject completion rate, graduation rate and post-secondary destinations.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test measures how well students are meeting provincial expectations in reading and writing ability.
