One scientific step for medical research, One giant step for John Polanyi C.I co-op students

John Polanyi CI co-op students Ben Mazor and Jack Plumaj have been given a great opportunity by being selected to work at The Hospital for Sick Children’s Medical and Robotic Research Departments.

Ben, a grade 12 student, won the MedTech challenge award last year at The Hospital for Sick Children. Along with another student, he designed a medical robotic device that could drill through the human skull for the purpose of removing tumors in the treatment of cancer.

Jack, currently in grade 11, completed his placement in cancer research at the Medical and Related Sciences building affiliated with SickKids. As a result of his placement, his mentor, Dr.Jessica Adams, agreed to speak to the science classes at John Polanyi C.I. about careers in science and/or medical research which ties in with the SMaRT program, an acronym for Science, Math and Robotics Technology, offered at JPCI.

Both Ben and Jack are recognized by John Polanyi C.I. for their contribution to education in science.
