Welcome, and thank you for visiting my web page.

Welcome to my web page and to the Toronto District School Board web site.

Student Trustees are elected to represent and advocate for the 250,000 students in the largest school board in Canada and one of the largest in North America.

The main role of the Student Trustee is to bring the student voice into the Boardroom. One way this is done is through the TDSB Student SuperCouncil, which is a group of 20 democratically elected students who work on advocating for the students in the TDSB. Student Trustees work with SuperCouncil to ensure that the student voice is being properly represented in the Boardroom.  They do this by holding monthly meetings where students have the opportunity to share their thoughts and engage in a constructive debate with students all across the city on how to improve our schools.  SuperCouncil also holds a variety of leadership conferences throughout the year designed to promote student engagement.

As we move forward, it is important to note that the responsibility of representing the student voice is not just limited to the Student Trustees. YOU play just as important a role in your own school community. Be sure to take part in your own student council and start making a difference in your own school today. Student Councils are more important than you may think; they can provide a unique perspective that no one else is able to do.  Make sure that this opportunity does not go to waste. Only together can we ensure that positive changes continue to occur in our school system.

If shaping the future of public education in Toronto is your interest, I encourage you to take part in the TDSB Student SuperCouncil. A link to their website is found on the left navigation pane of my website.

There are some exciting changes ahead of us, and I am looking forward to sharing them with you every step of the way. I encourage you to follow me on Twitter or Facebook by clicking on the icons above to learn more about how the student vision is evolving every day.  I am just an email or a phone call away and am always open to learning more about the issues that you find important.

I encourage all of you to get involved to make the most out of your educational experience. No matter if it is joining a club or sport, volunteering, or getting involved in your education through other means, make sure to do what you love and love what you do. As your Student Trustees, my partner Jenny Williams and I are here to support you every step of the way.

Enjoy your time on my page and on the TDSB website.

What is SuperCouncil, what does it mean to you?

SuperCouncil isn't a place, it’s a process. It’s a process in which students come together to raise a higher level of discourse. It all starts with the dedicated students that attend our quadrant meetings. This is where their voices are heard, their opinions are presented, and their issues are addressed. From there, information is gathered and appropriate measures are taken, and that's the essence of it. Your voice can be heard loud and clear, with SuperCouncil as the liaison. So come out to our meetings, get involved, and get heard.
