Whether you are a student, parent or resident, as your elected representative for the TDSB, it is my role to advocate on your behalf. On the TDSB site, and on this page, you can stay informed on what’s happening at the Board, including policies under review, program updates and discussions around new initiatives to improve student success.

On this site, you can also learn more about ways you can get involved and participate in the education process, like attending Board meetings or checking out other volunteer opportunities. Education is a shared responsibility, and I welcome and encourage your participation in our public school system.

Willowdale School News - WSN

Stay up-to-date on public education and local school news by subscribing to my e-newsletter, the Willowdale School News (WSN).  Once or twice a month, I send information about what is happening at the TDSB and local venues.  To subscribe, send an email to: Mari.Rutka@tdsb.on.ca.

Willowdale Ward Meetings

Every year, we hold a number of meetings in Willowdale at local schools to which all those who are interested in education in Willowdale are invited.  We often invite guest speakers as well.  These are prominent educators and education experts to give advice on how to best support the needs of the TDSB's students.  We also give updates on current educational happenings and organize events to benefit schools across Willowdale.  Meetings run from 7-9 p.m. Here are this year's meeting dates: 

Information Fair

Another way we help get information to students and parents is our Help is Here Information Fair.  This year's date is Saturday March 2, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The fair will showcase as much support information as we can assemble from representatives of many departments of the TDSB, and from civic, provincial, and federal agencies as well as community agencies.  This year, we will be incorporating a Youth Job Fair so that students can collect information on job search assistance and employment and volunteer opportunities.  For more information, please click on the Help is Here! link on the upper left corner.
