Immigrant Women On the Move (IWOM) is a unique job search program
to assist immigrant women with little or no experience in Canada find and keep a job.

 Images of Immigrant Women On the Move (IWOM)    IWOM offers three weeks of employment preparation workshops followed by extensive job development support. This program provides a culturally sensitive and supportive environment, that is conducive to immigrant women and their unique needs. Eligible clients may access transportation and child care supports.

IWOM encourages immigrant women to effectively utilize the skills, knowledge and experiences that they have acquired outside Canada and empowers them to creatively market these valuable skills to Canadian employers.

The program strives to create sustainable partnerships among employers, program participants and the community, which encourages improved communication, mutual benefit and value for all.

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Immigrant women with little or no Canadian work experience
  • Unemployed or working less than 20 hours a week
  • Facing employment barriers
  • Entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Good command of English - assessed at LINC Level 4 or higher
  • Committed to completing the three-week in-class instruction workshop, and working with the Job Developer in their job search and placement for a twelve-week period
