Community Advisory Committees

Ten community advisory committees have been established to improve parental and community input on policy and program issues. These committees will have the opportunity to advise the Board on its policies and programs, in addition to providing an advocacy role for parents and the community. If you are interested in participating on a Committee please e-mail your interest to outreach@tdsb.on.ca

The ten community advisory committees that have been established are:

Aboriginal Community Advisory Committee (ACAC)

Alternative Schools Advisory Committee (ASAC)

Community Use of Schools Advisory Committee (CUSAC)

Early Years Advisory Committee (EYAC) 

Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC)

Equity Policy Advisory Committee (EPAC)

French as a Second Language Advisory Committee (FSLAC)

Inner City Advisory Committee (ICAC)

Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) 

Safe & Caring Schools Advisory Committee (SCSAC)

Special Education Advisory Committee

Student Nutrition Advisory Committee (SNAC)

In addition to these advisory committees, the Special Education Advisory Committee has been established as legislated by the Government of Ontario.

 

Community Advisory Committee Procedures

Community Advisory Committees will operate according to procedures approved by the Board.  Each of these advisory committees will:

  • Be co-chaired by a trustee appointed by the Board, and a parent elected by the committee. The Director assigns staff liaisons to the committee; 
  • Have a membership term of office of two years;
  • Establish operating guidelines to guide the conduct of its meetings and business;
  • Meet 4 – 6 times per year at the Board’s head office at 5050 Yonge St. The schedule of meetings for the year is determined in advance;
  • Convene at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm; 
  • Be provided with secretarial services to facilitate distribution of agendas, minutes and reports to participants and to all trustees and senior staff;
  • Report to the Board through a Board Standing Committee, usually the Program and School Services Committee (PSSC)
