Your Voice, Your SuperCouncil. |
| Supercouncil Elections Conference The TDSB SuperCouncil Elections took place on April 23, 2012 at City Hall. The new SuperCouncil Executive was elected for the school year 2012-2013. For the first time in TDSB history, the Elections Conference was open to Grade 7/8 students and clicker technology was used for voting. The special appearance made by Craig and Marc Kielburger was a real treat for the aspiring young leaders in the crowd. We were also honoured to have the Minister of the Education and many other fantastic educators speak at the conference. Our former student trustees Gorick Ng, Fan Wu and Zane Schwartz came back to deliver inspiring speeches. Kaloyan Kalchev (TDSB Idol Finalist), Lost and Found (TDSB Fusion Winners) and Lynn Sue-A-Quan (Grade 7 Violinist) blew everyone away with their stunning performances. Thank you to all the TDSB students who made this day such a success. It wouldn't have been possible without you. Congratulations to everyone who came out to support their peers and run as a candidate! ![]() |

| Gr 9/10 Leadership Retreat From March 2nd-4th, 80 students from around the TDSB had the opportunity of taking part in an eye opening leadership experience. From ice breaker games to communication workshops, students got to interact with one another as well as participate in various leadership activities. 80 students came to this retreat as individuals and left as a group of inspired leaders, it truly was an eye opening retreat. Leadership knows no age. It doesn't matter what grade you're in or how old you are, if you feel passionate about something, stand up and voice your opinions! Overall, it was a great weekend and SuperCouncil is happy to say that it will continue for years to come. A huge thanks to Tony Yu and his sub-committee for organizing such a successful event! ![]() |

Here’s to a New Year!
With a newly elected group of Executives, comes a fresh batch of ideas to start a new year. This year, SuperCouncil hopes to have a greater turn out at Quadrant meetings, have more people informed about SuperCouncil via social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook, and have a survey or two throughout the year in order to get a better idea of the thoughts and concerns from students throughout the TDSB. As 20 students are representing about 250,000, all we can hope for is a group of enthusiastic, passionate and curious individuals who are interested in learning more about their education and finding out ways to change the issues that have been bothering them for years. All students from Grades 7 to 12 are encouraged to find out what quadrant they are in here and come to their next Quadrant meeting to represent their school and themselves. Any and all students are welcome to attend with any issue in mind, or even to find out more about SuperCouncil. Bring a friend and start to make a difference in your education!

Alternative School ElectionsTo all Alternative students in the TDSB in grades 7 and above; congratulations, you now have a representative on the TDSB Student SuperCouncil Executive for the school year of 2011-2012! For the first time in the history of SuperCouncil, an Alternative Schools Representative was democratically elected by students from alternative schools. Rajiv Sivanesan is this year’s Alternative Rep! The role of an Alternative Rep is to act as a liaison between the SuperCouncil and the Alternative Schools. The Alternative Rep also presents opinions, ideas, and concerns from the alternative schools in the TDSB through ASAC (Alternative School Advisory Council) meetings. This is a huge step towards a more solidified voice of the TDSB that will ultimately be heard by the Board.

2011-2012 Executive RetreatOver the weekend of September 16th, the 20 members of the Executive along with a few wonderful staff members packed our bags on September 16th and heading on over to Monocliffs Outdoor Learning Centre! We all had a wonderful experience full of getting to know one another more, playing some really silly games, and planning out/discussing what we’d like to see happen in our upcoming year. The goal of the weekend was to come up with a solidified way of how to increase the student voice in the TDSB Boardroom, and hopefully our ideas will allow for that to happen! There may have been a couple sleepless nights in the cabins where the nonstop talk-a-thons happened in both the girls’ and the boys’ cabin, but it created a bond between us that will not be broken this year. SC Exec 11-12 truly is a family now! For pictures from the retreat please see here
