As you may be aware, Putting Students First Act and Regulation 274 specifically contain provisions for access to permanent teaching positions. The Toronto District School Board is currently working through the implementation of this regulation. Updates will be provided on this website as information becomes available.

ADULT DAY SCHOOL TEACHERS

2013 TEACHER RECRUITMENT PROCESS - Secondary Contract and Occasional Teacher Applicants

The Toronto District School Board invites applications from interested candidates for September 2013 Secondary Teaching positions. Applicants are required to apply online using our electronic application process.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY ONLINE AS A "NEW USER" AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS OUTLINED ON THE CHECKLIST.   ONLY ONE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED PER APPLICANT FOR EACH CALENDAR YEAR. ALL COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL REMAIN ACTIVE IN THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY TEACHING OFFICES FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.

2013 APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are welcomed at all times. THERE IS NO DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS. Applicants are advised to apply in the months of January & February in order to be considered for early scheduling of interviews.

 

CHECKLIST

Only completed application packages will be considered. Applications and supporting documents can not accepted by FAX or e-mail.

The following documents are required as part of a complete application package. A completed application includes:
•        Online application form
•        Cover Letter addressed to the attention of: 
          Andrew Gold – Senior Manager, Secondary Teaching Office   
          Jean Shaw – Senior Manager, Elementary Teaching Office (if applying to Elementary also)
•        Résumé  (maximum 2 pages)
•        Copy of Certificate of Qualification *
•        Copies of practice teaching reports (faculty students) OR 
          teacher evaluation reports (experienced teachers) **
•        Reference letters (optional)

*Faculty of Education students must provide a copy of certification upon graduation. Please contact the Ontario College of Teachers, 101 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario M5S 0A1, 416- 961-8800, if further information is required regarding certification.

** NOTE: All school boards who are contemplating employing a teacher are required by the Ministry of Education to request documents pertaining to the teacher's performance appraisal from the last board that employed the teacher.

  1. IF YOU WOULD LIKE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF YOUR MAILED DOCUMENTS AND STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION, PLEASE SEND A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE TO THE ADDRESS ABOVE (secondary applicants only). WE CANNOT RESPOND TO THESE INQUIRIES OVER THE TELEPHONE.
  2. CANDIDATES WHO ARE VISUALLY OR HEARING IMPAIRED WILL BE PROVIDED WITH ASSISTANCE (IF REQUIRED) IN COMPLETING THE APPLICATION PROCESS. ACCOMMODATION WILL ALSO BE MADE DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.
  3. WE APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW ALL APPLICATIONS, HOWEVER DUE TO VOLUME ONLY APPLICANTS SELECTED FOR AN INTERVIEW WILL BE CONTACTED. SELECTION FOR AN INTERVIEW IS BASED ON THE APPLICANT'S PACKAGE IN REFERENCE TO THE TDSB SYSTEM NEEDS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR. INTERVIEWS COMMENCE IN FEBRUARY.
