| A curriculum that strives for sexual orientation equity provides a balance of perspectives. The Toronto District School Board acknowledges that inequities have existed in the curriculum; therefore, the Board is committed to enabling all lesbian and gay students, and students who identify themselves on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, to see themselves reflected in the curriculum.
The Board is further committed to providing each student with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to live in a complex and diverse world. The Equity in Education website is committed to supporting all TDSB staff members with information and resources to support anti-homophobia, sexual orientation, and equity:

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD (15783K 7/23/2009) | |  | Rainbows and Triangles: A Curriculum Document for Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism in the K-6 Classroom (2002) This is a joint publication between the TDSB Equity Department and the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. It is a compilation of lesson plans and support materials, including definitions, FAQs, and text, video, and community contact information. This resource guide provides teachers with a variety of age-appropriate teaching strategies that can be used with sudents in the primary and junior divisions. The document introduces students to the concepts of diverse family structures, human rights, discrimination, homophobia, and strategies for challenging discrimination in all its forms. It provides links to The Ontario Curriculum. Through the use of an integrated teaching approach, the lessons combine critical-thinking skills, language acquisition, and skill development across the curriculum. In our on-going commitment to support Equity and Human Rights within the education system and across diverse communities, the TDSB participated in the Toronto Pride Parade on Sunday, June 28th, 2009.
The TDSB had a float, school bus, and marching contingent in this year's Pride Parade and many students, staff, families, and community members to joined in the celebration.
