Technological Education

Technological education encompasses both broad-based technology and computer studies. It focuses on developing students’ abilities to work creatively and competently with technologies that are central to their lives. Developing technological literacy enhances students’ success in post-secondary studies and in the workplace. Experience in Technological Studies courses helps students learn through a combination of theoretical and hands-on learning.

Skills Canada Competition

High school students in the TDSB participated in a full day Skills Competition event on March 9, 2011 at:

  • Bendale BTI
  • Central Technical School
  • Danforth Collegiate & Technical Institute
  • David & Mary Thomson CI, Woburn CI
  • Marc Garneau CI.

Students competed in 33 technological education competitions for gold, silver and bronze medal status with their peers in events such as Automobile Servicing, Photography, Precision Machining, Graphic Design, Hairstyling, Robotics, Culinary Arts.

TDSB Skills Competition Gold medal winners are now eligible to compete at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition on May 2-4 in Waterloo, Ontario.

Engines Donated to TDSB

Nineteen automotive program high schools within the Toronto District School Board's have received a donation of 128 late model V6 and V8 auto engines from GM Canada.
