Elmlea Junior School

Take care of yourself and take care of each other!

Ecole Elmlea Junior School is located in the Rexdale community at the 401 and Islington Avenue. The school opened in 1952 for English learners in the local attendance area. In 1976, French Immersion students from various home schools located between Eglinton and Steeles Avenue began to attend. Elmlea serves close to 530 students representing a number of different language and cultural groups. It is a dual track school offering both regular English and French Immersion programs and remains the French Immersion Home School for 21 feeder schools.  Students at Elmlea are exposed to learning through the arts.  We have a bilingual Primary Choir and our Junior Choir is involved in the TDSB/U of T Choral Project.

When students graduate from Elmlea Junior School, the students in the English Track attend The Elms for grade 6 and Thistletown Collegiate for their secondary education.  The students in the French Track move to Hilltop Middle School and on to Richview Collegiate.
